My photos were part of the ZEITGEIST group exhibition at İstanbul Anna Laudel Gallery.
In Turkey, 2025 was officially declared the “Year of the Family” by the government, a move widely perceived within the queer community as an exclusionary gesture.
As a resistance strategy, Nadir Sönmez adopts a subtle defiance through humor. By photographing his parents as they read cult homoerotic queer print magazines, he playfully reimagines the notion of family, gently unsettling its normative boundaries while reclaiming space for queer presence within it.
